On Thursday morning the Yr 7’s & Yr 8’s went to the hall and were put into teams. The teachers gave each team a clipboard with a laminated sheet that had the first challenge for the start of the TPS Amazing Race.
When we started, the group I was in had to head straight to the art room to figure out a puzzle of a finished artwork and using creative colours we had to colour it in & glue it to a piece of cardboard. We then got our next activity from Mrs Manuyag.
The bell rang for us to swap over to our next activity which was ‘Milkshake Mania’ with Ms Aireen. Even though it was an appetizing challenge we still had to clean up and get everything ready for the next group coming in. After we had cleaned up, Ms Aireen then handed us our next activity.
The second we heard the bell we whizzed off to the Music Room where we went to our next activity which was a ‘Music Challenge’. We had to learn how to play the instruments provided, sing the lyrics, and perform as a group. Once we had finished Mr Strickland then gave us our next activity.
The bell rang again, we went to our next activity which was ‘Strong Hold’. We had to transport a tennis ball on top of a plastic band attached to multiple strings, that we had to hold onto while we walked/power walked/ran around four outstretched cones. But there was a catch if the ball dropped we weren’t allowed to touch it only the teacher could.
Our next activity ‘Find the pairs’ with Mrs Fepuleai. One team member had to wear a blindfold while the others guided them to a face down piece of wood that had a picture of a TPS teacher on it. Every time we successfully found the matching pairs to the pictures of the teachers we had to swap the blindfold over with another person, everyone in our group had to have a turn.
Our final activity was the ‘Team Caterpillar’ with Whaea Petra. As a team we had to move in hula hoops around the plastic flags. We had to collect 6 plastic flags & collect red, green, blue and yellow beanbags to gain points.
