TPS Amazing Race Technology Challenge:

TPS Amazing Race(Reflection):

On Thursday morning the Yr 7’s & Yr 8’s went to the hall and were put into teams. The teachers gave each team a clipboard with a laminated sheet that had the first challenge for the start of the TPS Amazing Race.

When we started, the group I was in had to head straight to the art room to figure out a puzzle of a finished artwork and using creative colours we had to colour it in & glue it to a piece of cardboard. We then got our next activity from Mrs Manuyag.

The bell rang for us to swap over to our next activity which was ‘Milkshake Mania’ with Ms Aireen. Even though it was an appetizing challenge we still had to clean up and get everything ready for the next group coming in. After we had cleaned up, Ms Aireen then handed us our next activity.

The second we heard the bell we whizzed off to the Music Room where we went to our next activity which was a ‘Music Challenge’. We had to learn how to play the instruments provided, sing the lyrics, and perform as a group. Once we had finished Mr Strickland then gave us our next activity.

The bell rang again, we went to our next activity which was ‘Strong Hold’. We had to transport a tennis ball on top of a plastic band attached to multiple strings, that we had to hold onto while we walked/power walked/ran around four outstretched cones.  But there was a catch if the ball dropped we weren’t allowed to touch it only the teacher could.

Our next activity ‘Find the pairs’ with Mrs Fepuleai. One team member had to wear a blindfold while the others guided them to a face down piece of wood that had a picture of a TPS teacher on it. Every time we successfully found the matching pairs to the pictures of the teachers we had to swap the blindfold over with another person, everyone in our group had to have a turn.

Our final activity was the ‘Team Caterpillar’ with Whaea Petra. As a team we had to move in hula hoops around the plastic flags. We had to collect 6 plastic flags & collect red, green, blue and yellow beanbags to gain points.

Recount Writing on TPS Picnic Pool Day:

Travelling by bus and arriving at the pools was so exciting. Getting changed and then sitting down into our classroom lines listening to the expectations so that everyone had a good day. We went to the pools to have fun with our peers, teachers and families.

What a nice way to start the day, don’t you think?

We began with the exhausting Duathlon, student councilors lead their allocated teams out through a swim across the cold water of the pool and then out onto a 2km run around the Panmure Basin. Teamwork and perseverance to strive through weaknesses of others and cheers of encouragement to help struggling team members.

After the duathlon it was morning tea, rumbling stomachs scrambled for their lunch boxes. Then we were able to go onto the hydroslide. Seeing the dark twists and turns of the hydroslide, feeling the chills down our spines as the raging water gushes non-stop. Hearing the screams and laughter as students are swept away and down the slide.

It was cool because all of us enjoyed playing, splashing and having fun with our friends.Relaxing after a big exercise was great.Next was the diving pool.Nerves of steel as fearless students climb the diving board to take the plunge into a 13ft drop of nothing but water.

Feeling the slap of the water against their bodies was like the sound of thunder crashing against the ground. Emerging faces with smiles stretching across their cheeks was a sign of pure joy.

LUNCHTIME!! Hot sizzling sausages sandwiched between a bread and tomato sauce and deliciously cold ice-blocks melting in our mouths on a hot afternoon was a treat after all that swimming, running and playing in the scorching sun.

HOORAY! Freetime again. Hanging out with friends in the pool, spending time with teachers, laughing and screaming as we play tricks on our friends by the side of the pool.

I felt the water slide effortlessly down my legs as I got out of the pool and scurried to the changingrooms to quickly get dressed into my uniform. We were all called back to line up in our buddy classes. Everyone then got on the buses and we headed back to school. Tiresome limbs along with exhausted faces hopped off the buses and made their way back to class and waited to be dismissed for hometime.

Kia Mananwanui

This week I have composed a DLO(digital learning object) to show the traits of what Kia Manawanui means or symbolises. I have also included how we could take those traits and apply them to the community and the classroom and also in Tamaki Primary.
